Information & Technology Division

Our Goal

To establish and maintain a state-of-the-art, Criminal Justice Information Service (CJIS) compliant digital infrastructure where case information is 100% accurate, securely stored, and wirelessly accessible across all practice areas. By embracing cutting-edge technology, we ensure seamless, secure, and efficient management of critical case information.

About the Information & Technology Division

The Information & Technology (I&T) Division of the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office (WCPO) is the engine driving technological innovation within the Office. With a clear mission to support the core objectives of justice and efficiency, the Division is responsible for:

  • Procuring and deploying advanced computing and electronic equipment.

  • Managing robust information, digital evidence, and imaging systems.

  • Ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations, including CJIS standards for securing sensitive data.

As the Office’s strategic liaison with Wayne County’s Department of Technology and the Michigan Prosecuting Coordinating Committee’s Technical Services Sub-Committee, the Division bridges the gap between technology and justice, aligning digital solutions with prosecutorial needs.

Units within the I&T Division

The I&T Division operates through four specialized units, each contributing to the seamless integration of technology into the prosecutorial process:

1. Information Technology Unit (WCPOIT):

The WCPOIT team ensures the smooth functioning and enhancement of the Office’s technological infrastructure. From troubleshooting IT issues to implementing the latest technologies, WCPOIT continuously elevates the Office’s digital capabilities. Notably, the unit has overseen the transition to modern systems, significantly expanding the technological resources available to staff and Assistant Prosecuting Attorneys (APAs).

2. Litigation Technology Unit:

Focused on strengthening the litigation process, this unit leverages e-discovery tools, digital presentations, and other technologies to craft persuasive legal narratives. By enhancing courtroom capabilities, the Litigation Technology Unit empowers prosecutors to present compelling, technology-driven cases.

3. Discovery and Information Service Communication Operations (DISCO):

DISCO plays a vital role in managing discovery processes and streamlining communication within the Office. By ensuring timely and efficient data exchange, the unit fosters collaboration and optimizes the flow of critical information.

Canine Advocate

The Division proudly homes Jellybean, the Office’s canine advocate. Jellybean’s presence promotes a supportive environment for witnesses and victims, especially for children.  Jellybean goes to interviews and court with members of the Victim Services unit and brings with her the Division’s values of compassion and care.

Innovation for Justice

The I&T Division is more than a technological hub—it is a strategic partner in advancing justice. Through its efforts, the Division ensures that the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office remains a leader in leveraging technology to serve the community with precision, security, and efficiency.
