The Department of Corporation Counsel provides legal representation, advice, and counsel to Wayne County, its departments, elected officials, and employees so they can legally fulfill their official duties.

The Wayne County Department of Public Services Environmental Services Division's mission is to create, foster, and maintain a clean and safe land and water environment for citizens of Wayne County by providing services for cost effective drainage systems, waste water management, and solid waste management.

Established to coordinate and administer health, educational, youth, veteran, senior and social services to residents and communities in Wayne County in order to address the social determinants of health and community wellness.

To take the lead role in coordinating the County's responsibility to plan, analyze, conduct and maintain programs to preserve and protect lives and property from major emergencies and disasters of all types. In this capacity, it maintains a current emergency management program for the County of Wayne and all participating local municipalities.

Wayne County's Indigent Defense Services Department (IDSD), formerly Office of Public Defense Services (OPDS) was launched in August 2020, with the hiring of its Director. The IDSD will manage the County's indigent defense system, including both the public defender office component and the private assigned counsel component of felony cases assigned to criminal defense counsel.

We are a team of technology experts committed to working with County departments to provide technology services and support needed to efficiently serve the employees and residents of Wayne County.

The Juvenile and Youth Services Department administers the County's juvenile justice system of care from prevention to adjudication of juveniles and includes community re-integration of returning juveniles.

The Mission of the Department of Management and Budget is to provide financial services, information and asset protection to elected policymakers, county departments, program administrators and the public, so they can have the information they need to make decisions and achieve their desired results.

The Department of Human Resources ensures positions in County Government are filled by the most qualified, capable, and committed employees available and to develop an environment that is able to effectively support both internal and external stakeholders. Wayne County P/HR provides many services through its six (6) Divisions.

The Department of Public Services (DPS) consists of the Public Services Group (PSG) and the Environmental Services Group (ESG). The DPS is one of the largest departments in Wayne County government, employing close to 700 personnel with an annual operating budget of nearly $300 million.

Wayne County Senior Services provides congregate, home-delivered, and liquid meals to eligible senior citizens age 60 and older in the 34 communities in western Wayne County and in the downriver areas.
