Register of Deeds
Appointments are strongly suggested.
Although many COVID-19 restrictions have been lifted, we still limit the number
of customers in our office. For that reason, it is best to schedule an appointment for service. We will
accept walk-in customers if there are open time slots. You won't be able to wait on the floor until a slot
becomes available.
The first appointments of the day are at 8:30 AM and the last appointments are at 4:00
PM.
Schedule Appointment
You will be directed to the appointment calendar. Select the specific service you need
(record, search, or kiosk) and enter the required information. Please note that the 30 minute appointment slots
are strictly for high volume customers recording five to 25 documents during the appointment. Other customers
can record up to five documents during a 15 minute appointment. Only one person per appointment may enter the
office. If you need assistance scheduling the appointment, call 313-224-5860.
Customers who plan to record a document should read the information under the Document
Recording tab before scheduling an appointment. Your document must comply with the recording requirements and
you must pay the correct fees and taxes. If not, we won't be able to record the document. Also, unless an
exemption applies, deeds, land contracts and plats must be "tax-certified" by the Wayne County Treasurer before
they can be recorded.
Save time and parking fees by searching for and obtaining copies of documents recorded
after 1986 on our Wayne
County Land Records website. You must use a credit card to establish an account that allows you to pay
$6 to search our database for 15 minutes (or $24 for 60 minutes) and pay $2 per page for copies.
Stay safe,
Bernard J. Youngblood, Wayne County Register of Deeds
Welcome to the Wayne County Register of Deeds
Bestowed with powers by the Michigan constitution, the office of Register of Deeds is the library of land records for
the county. Each of the nearly 900,000 property parcels within the county boundaries have their own unique history
archived at this location. Just as your neighborhood library incorporates the Dewey Decimal System to stack and
retrieve books, here we use a system referencing liber and page number to record and retrieve documents relating to
each specific property description dating from 1703.It is a great privilege to be entrusted by the voters to
maintain and protect our land records of the county. This responsibility is shared with a selected team of
specialized individuals possessing excellence and integrity worthy of this committed pledge under my leadership.
Thank you for visiting and allowing my team to protect your property rights.
Sincerely,
Bernard J. Youngblood
