Bennett Arboretum is a hidden gem featuring a gentle two-mile trail through Michigan’s oldest county arboretum. While a peaceful retreat year-round, it becomes a bustling hub in the autumn as a popular course for high school cross-country teams.
Developed in the 1930s as part of the Middle Rouge Parkway (Hines Drive) project, the arboretum was the brainchild of Jesse Merle Bennett, a pioneer in roadside development and the Director of Wayne County Parks and Forestry. Today, visitors can explore diverse collections of maple, oak, and beech, alongside several rare tree species from around the globe. Located on Hines Drive between Six and Seven Mile Roads in Northville, the arboretum is most easily accessed by parking at Cass Benton Park directly across the street.
