Commissioner (Dist. 10)
Commissioner Melissa Daub was first elected to the Wayne County Commission in 2018. She represents District 10, which includes Canton Township, the City of Plymouth, and a portion of Plymouth Township.
A proud graduate of Plymouth-Canton High School, Commissioner Daub holds a bachelor's degree from Eastern Michigan University. Prior to serving on the Wayne County Commission, Commissioner Daub worked in accounting, with extensive experience in both leadership and individual contributor positions.
Commissioner Daub is a strong advocate for Plymouth-Canton and Wayne County on the state level as a member of the Michigan Association of Counties (MAC) Board of Directors, having served as Board President in 2025, and on the federal level as a member of the National Association of Counties (NACo) Board of Directors. She is a member of NACo's Committee on Telecommunications and Technology, NACo's Large Urban County Caucus (LUCC), and Women of NACo. In 2024, Commissioner Daub was chosen as one of the few county leaders to participate in NACo’s 19th Annual County Leadership Institute.
Within the Wayne County Commission, Commissioner Daub serves as chair of the Committee on Audit, vice-chair of the Committee on Public Safety, Judiciary and Homeland Security, and member of the Committee on Senior Citizens and Veterans Affairs. Additionally, she is a member of the Wayne County Women's Commission.
Commissioner Daub places a strong focus on regional and local leadership and is a member of the following organizations: Southeast Michigan Council of Governments (SEMCOG) Executive Board, Wayne County Airport Authority Joint Airport Zoning Board, Wayne County Materials Management Planning Committee, and Face Addiction Now (formerly Families Against Narcotics) Advisory Board.
Commissioner Daub is also a proud member of the National Democratic County Officials, the Michigan Democratic Party, Canton Democratic Club (Vice-President), and Plymouth Democratic Club.

Wayne County Commission approves intergovernmental agreement with Canton Township for local road improvements
Funding will provide for pavement repairs throughout residential subdivisions
The Wayne County Commission approved an intergovernmental agreement between the Charter County of Wayne and the Charter Township of Canton not to exceed $773,500 for the Local Partnering Initiative for township roads for the Local Road Improvements Program to allow for pavement repairs for various subdivision locations at their April 7 meeting.
“Approval of this intergovernmental agreement is great news for every Canton Township resident,” added Wayne County Commissioner Melissa Daub (D-Canton). “These funds will go a long to way make needed residential road repairs and improvements in numerous subdivisions throughout the Township. I am very pleased that the Commission and Township approved this important agreement that will provide significant infrastructure improvements.”
This agreement will provide Canton Township with $773,500 from the county along with a $773,500 match from Canton Township for the Local Partnering Initiative.
“We serve our residents and communities well when we focus on funding projects that bring tangible and lasting results for our constituents,” commented Wayne County Commission Chair Alisha Bell (D-District 7). “I am very pleased to partner with Canton Township to help facilitate these essential road repairs and improvements that will go a long way to improve the daily lives of so many.”
The project will be implemented in two phases, with Group 1 consisting of concrete pavement repairs, including paving of gravel surfaces and any necessary sidewalk repairs, at the following subdivisions: Glengarry Village; Century Farms; Fairways West; Kirkway; Pickwick Village; and Windsor Park. Group 2 will consist of asphalt pavement repairs, including paving of gravel surfaces, regrading of adjacent roadside ditches and any necessary sidewalk repairs, at the following subdivisions: Central Park; Cherry Knoll; Cobblestone Ridge; Echo Forest; Heritage Farms; Huntington Place; Meadow Villages; Northwoods Place; Parkview Estates; Poplar Ridge; Riverwoods; Sierra Heights; Stratford Park; and Woodcreek.
The Canton Township Board of Trustees approved this project via Resolution No. 2026-4 on January 13, 2026. The term will commence upon Commission approval through September 30, 2029. Wayne County Commission approves intergovernmental agreement with Canton Township for replacement of ASR roads
Funding will provide for improvements to local roads and pedestrian pathways
The Wayne County Commission approved an intergovernmental agreement between the Charter County of Wayne and the Charter Township of Canton not to exceed $1,000,000 for improvements to local roads and pedestrian pathways affected by alkali silica reaction (ASR) at their April 14 meeting.
Canton Township’s Board of Trustees approved this agreement on January 13, 2026, via Resolution No. 2026-3. Canton Township will contribute $4,787,000. The total project is in the estimated amount of $5,787,000.
“This intergovernmental agreement is another win for Canton Township,” commented Wayne County Commissioner Melissa Daub (D-Canton). “We will finally be rid of these crumbling ASR roads. I would like to thank my fellow commissioners for voting yes on this very important contract.”
Canton Township’s ASR-affected roads repair will include the replacement of deteriorated concrete pavement and pedestrian pathways, drainage structure adjustments, underdrain construction, Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant sidewalks, and together with necessary related work at different locations within the Township. The project will include the reconstruction of local roads and pedestrian pathways in 12 subdivisions in the Township, namely: Cavalier Village, Fellow Creek Estates, Forest Brook, Fox Run, Glengarry Village 3, Glengarry Village 4, 5 and 6, Kingston Estates, North Point, Nowland Estates, Riverpark, Sunflower Village, and Willow Homes.
