Three additional members will join the Wayne County Women's Commission for its 2023-24 session, filling the remaining vacancies on the commission.
Wayne County Commissioner Melissa Daub (D-Canton) and Cynthia Douglas were reappointed to the board as was new member Melandie Hines.
Commissioner Daub was appointed by fellow Commissioner Cara Clemente (D-Lincoln Park), Douglas was appointed as an at large member by Commission Chair Alisha Bell (DDetroit) and Hines was appointed by Commissioner Glenn S. Anderson (D-Westland) to represent District 12.
Appointments were confirmed May 18 in a vote by the full county commission. Sixteen members were appointed to the women's commission earlier in May.
Chair Bell formed the women's commission under a recommendation from county resident Sarah Roberts in 2021 to address issues of concern for women living in Wayne County, with special emphasis on issues involving health care and employment opportunities.

Appointees serve two-year terms on the women's commission, which meets once-amonth throughout each year. Meetings are open to the public under the state's Open Meetings Act.
