Step 2 - Application Review Appointment
To expedite time you should call in advance and schedule an appointment. No mail-in applications are accepted.
When you visit our Veterans Service Center inside International Center Building, located at 400 Monroe, Suite 405, Detroit, MI 48226, please bring your documents. A counselor will review your application and determine if you meet the eligibility requirements for each fund. You will also have an interview with the counselor. It will then be determined if your application should be submitted to the Michigan Veterans Trust Fund or Soldiers & Sailors Relief Fund for consideration. The counselor will then submit your application to the funding source best suited for your needs. Once your application is submitted, it is your responsibility to provide additional supporting documents, if needed.
Step 3 - Application Evaluation
Each application is evaluated carefully concerning the extent of the aid to be granted. A decision will be made within two weeks or less, and you will receive a Notice of Decision in the mail. In the event your request is denied, instructions on filing an appeal will be explained in the Notice of Decision letter.
