Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Cameron Lee Sims, 23, of Farmington Hills, in connection with a car crash that killed Sandi Odisho, 40, of Sterling Heights.

On September 25, 2025, at approximately 5:52 p.m., Detroit police officers were dispatched to the intersection of East Eight Mile Road and Schoenherr Street for a reported car crash. Upon their arrival, officers located Ms. Odisho trapped inside of her vehicle. Medics arrived on the scene and pronounced the victim deceased.

It is alleged that Defendant Sims was intoxicated, driving at a high rate of speed eastbound on Eight Mile Road, when he struck Ms. Odisho, fatally injuring her, before fleeing the scene. Investigation by the Detroit Police Department led to the arrest of the defendant a short time later.

Cameron Lee Sims has been charged with Operating While Intoxicated - Causing Death, Reckless Driving – Causing Death and Leaving the Scene of an Accident When at Fault – Causing Death.*

“An innocent woman is dead because this person was allegedly intoxicated and failed to follow the rules of the road. He then compounded that by allegedly leaving the scene of a criminal crash where he was at fault. I have said this over and over again - the rules of the road are not voluntary - they are mandatory,” said Prosecutor Kym Worthy.

He was arraigned on September 28, 2025, before Magistrate Laura Echartea and received a $20,000 cash/surety bond. A bond re-determination hearing is scheduled for September 30, 2025, at 9:00 a.m., before Judge William McConico. The Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for October 7, 2025, at 8:30 a.m., and the Preliminary Examination is scheduled for October 14, 2025, at 8:45 a.m., before Judge Patricia Jefferson.
