Dearborn Heights Man Charged with Harboring Missing Teen

Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Kamal Abou Darwiche, 62, of Dearborn Heights, in connection with harboring a 16-year-old girl, also of Dearborn Heights, who was reported missing on March 14, 2025.   

On April 23, 2025, at approximately 2:35 p.m., during an investigation for the missing victim, officers were led to the Defendant’s residence located in the 6900 block of Inkster Road in Dearborn Heights. Upon their arrival, officers recovered the missing victim. Defendant Darwiche was located and taken into custody a short time later. 

It is alleged that between March 17, 2025, and April 23, 2025, Defendant Darwiche harbored the victim in his home. It is also alleged that Defendant Darwiche sexually assaulted the victim in his home between March 17, 2025, and April 23, 2025. More complete facts and evidence will be placed on the record in court at the preliminary examination.

Kamal Abou Darwiche has been charged with Child Sexually Abusive Activity, Controlled Substance – Delivery of Marijuana to a Minor, and Harboring a Runaway. *

The arraignment was held today in 20th District Court before Judge Steven Plawecki. The defendant received a $500,000 cash bond. The Probable Cause Conference is on June 25, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. before Judge David Turfe. The Preliminary Examination will be before Judge Plawecki on July 7, 2025, at 9:00 a.m.
