Detroit Woman Charged in Non-Fatal Shooting of Tow Truck Driver

Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Shaquanda Danielle Tankersley, 38, of Detroit, in connection with the non-fatal shooting of a 41-year-old Highland Park man.
On June 12, 2025, at approximately 2:57 p.m., in the 10800 block of Nottingham Road in Detroit, it is alleged that Defendant Tankersley produced and fired a handgun multiple times at the victim after he repossessed a vehicle from her residence in the 10500 block of Somerset Avenue. Detroit police officers were on patrol around Nottingham Road near Grayton Street when they observed the defendant firing at the victim. Officers returned fire, striking the defendant in her upper torso. Medics arrived on the scene and transported Defendant Tankersley to a local hospital where she was treated and released. No officers or the victim was injured in the shooting.
Shaquanda Danielle Tankersley has been charged with Assault with Intent to Murder and Felony Firearm.*
She was arraigned on June 16, 2025, in 36th District Court and given a $50,000 cash/surety bond. A bond re-determination hearing is scheduled for June 18, 2025, at 9:00 a.m., before Judge William McConico. The Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for June 25, 2025, at 8:30 a.m., and the Preliminary Examination is scheduled for July 1, 2025, at 8:45 a.m., before Judge Patricia Jefferson.
