Welcome to Elizabeth Park: Michigan’s First County Park

Established in 1919, Elizabeth Park is a 162-acre legacy gifted to Wayne County by the children of Elizabeth Slocum. As the "emerald jewel" of the Detroit River, this historic estate marked the birth of the Wayne County Park System. Today, it offers a stunning 1,300-foot riverwalk perfect for fishing, sightseeing, and tranquil strolls. Whether you're looking for adventure or relaxation, the park caters to every season. Enjoy a day of cycling, hiking, or softball, or embrace the winter with cross-country skiing and ice skating. Weddings: Exchange vows on one of our three picturesque pedestrian bridges.
