NOTICE OF INTENT

Did you lose your property to tax foreclosure?

You may be entitled to claim remaining proceeds from the sale associated with the parcel(s) that exceeds the amount owed for taxes, interest and fees.

Understanding the Process to Claim Surplus Proceeds

  1. By JULY 1 immediately following the date of foreclosure of the property, you must notify the Wayne County Treasurer’s Office by submitting the signed and notarized “Notice of Intent” form via certified mail or hand delivery, which can be found on Treasurer.WayneCounty.com under “Auctions & Claims.”
  2. In January, you will receive a notice from the Wayne County Treasurer’s Office requesting you to file a motion with the Circuit Court.
  3. Between February 1 and May 15, you must file a motion with the Circuit Court immediately following the sale or transfer of the property.
