Westland Man Charged with Possessing Child Sexually Abusive Material

Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Terence Darell Gaines, Jr., 21, of Westland, in connection with possessing child sexually abusive material.

On August 13, 2025, an investigation by the Westland police officers led to a home in Westland where child sexually abusive materials were found in the possession of Gaines. More complete facts and evidence will be placed on the record at the preliminary examination.

Terence Darell Gaines, Jr. has been charged with one count of Aggravated Child Sexually Abusive Material – Possession, one count of Child Sexually Abusive Material – Possession, and one count of Using  a Computer to Commit a Crime.*

He was arraigned on August 16, 2025, in 18th District Court and received a $50,000 cash/surety bond with a GPS tether, a curfew from 10:00 p.m., no communication with minors, and no computers while his case is pending.

Prosecutor Kym Worthy said, “This office will aggressively prosecute those who commit crimes that put our children in harm’s way.”
