Ypsilanti Man Charged in Assault and Barricaded Gunman Incident

Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Kevin Tylor Clark, 32, of Ypsilanti, in connection with the assault of a 37-year-old woman, of Romulus that led to a barricaded gunman incident. The victim is the girlfriend of the defendant.
On July 14, 2026, at a residence in the 6600 block of Amarillo Drive in Romulus, it is alleged that Defendant Clark assaulted the victim. At approximately 3:30 p.m., Romulus police officers were dispatched to the residence for a 911 hangup call regarding the domestic violence incident. When officers arrived on the scene, it is alleged that Defendant Clark barricaded himself and the victim inside of the residence while making threats towards the responding officers. The Western Wayne SWAT team was then called to the scene and set up a perimeter around the residence.
After a two-hour standoff, the defendant released the victim. After another two-hour standoff, Defendant Clark exited the home and was taken into custody. During the arrest, it is further alleged that Defendant Clark actively resisted as officers attempted to restrain him.
Kevin Tylor Clark has been charged with one count of Resisting and Obstructing a Police Officer and one count of Domestic Violence. *
He was arraigned this morning in 34th District Court and received a $100,000/10% bond with a GOS tether. The Probable Cuse Conference is scheduled for July 28, 2026, at 8:30 a.m., and the Preliminary Examination is scheduled for August 4, 2026, at 1:00 p.m., before Judge Brian Oakley.
