Three Charged in Homicide of Detroit Man

Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Keyonte Johnson, 17, Taiwan Nathaniel Jody Robinson, 18, and Tadario Thomas Derwin Sims, 18, all of Detroit, in connection with the fatal shooting of David Gary Martin, Jr., 20, also of Detroit.

On March 30, 2026, at approximately 9:59 p.m., Detroit Police officers were dispatched to a residence in the 18400 block of Prest Street for a reported shooting. Upon their arrival, officers located the victim’s vehicle crashed into a residence in the 18400 block of Sussex Street, and the victim in the driver’s seat of the vehicle, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Medics arrived on the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.

It is alleged that near the intersection of Margareta Street and Prest Street, the defendants produced and fired handguns at the victim’s vehicle. The victim then attempted to flee from the scene and lost control of his vehicle, crashing into a residence in the 18400 block of Sussex Street.

Keyonte Johnson and Tadario Thomas Derwin Sims have been charged with Premeditated First-Degree Murder, Felony Firearm, and Carrying a Concealed Weapon. * Taiwan Nathaniel Jody Robinson has been charged with Premeditated First-Degree Murder, Felony Firearm, and Third-Degree Fleeing. *  

They were arraigned and remanded to jail this afternoon in 36th District Court. The Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for April 13, 2026, at 8:30 a.m., and the Preliminary Examination is scheduled for April 20, 2026, at 8:45 a.m, before Judge Shawn Jacque.
