Livonia Man Charged with Assaulting Detroit Officers in 3 Incidents

Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Zachary Robert Stacer, 22, of Livonia, in connection with assaulting Detroit police officers in three separate incidents.
June 22, 2026 – Area of Grand River Avenue and West Warren Avenue
On June 22, 2026, at approximately 4:16 p.m., Detroit police officers were responding to a separate incident when they observed a heavy amount of traffic due to a street takeover in the area of Grand River Avenue and West Warren Avenue. While officers attempted to disperse traffic, it is alleged that Defendant Stacer approached the officers’ vehicle and discharged a fire extinguisher, before fleeing the scene.
July 12, 2026 – Area of Van Dyke and Charlevoix Street
On July 12, 2026, at approximately 12:02 a.m., Detroit police officers responded to the area of Van Dyke and Charlevoix Street for reports of drag racing. While officers attempted to disperse traffic, it is alleged that Defendant Stacer approached the officers’ vehicle and discharged a fire extinguisher, before fleeing the scene.
July 12, 2026 – Area of Grand River Avenue and McGraw Street
On July 12, 2026, at approximately 3:06 a.m., Detroit police officers responded to the area of Grand River Avenue and McGraw Street for reports of drag racing. While officers attempted to disperse traffic, it is alleged that Defendant Stacer approached the officers’ vehicle and discharged a fire extinguisher, before fleeing the scene.
Investigation by the Detroit Police Department led to the arrest of Defendant Stacer on July 30, 2026.
Zachary Robert Stacer has been charged with two counts of Assault with Intent to do Great Bodily Harm, three counts of Felonious Assault, and five counts of Resisting and Obstructing a Police Officer. *
He was arraigned on August 1, 2026, in 36th District Court before Magistrate Laura Echartea and received a $50,000 cash/surety bond. At the bond re-determination hearing this morning before Judge William McConico, the defendant’s bond was lowered to $25,000 cash/surety with a GPS tether and house arrest. The Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for August 10, 2026, at 8:30 a.m., before Jude Ronald Giles.
