Lincoln Park Man Charged with Resisting and Obstructing Police Officer

Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Steven Adelbert Strickland, 36, of Lincoln Park, in connection resisting and obstructing a Lincoln Park police officer.
On January 4, 2026, at approximately 5:09 p.m., Allen Park and Lincoln Park police officers were dispatched to Southfield Road and Roger Avenue for reports of a man armed with a box cutter. Upon their arrival, officers located the defendant. Officers then gave several verbal commands for the defendant to drop the weapon and attempted to use a taser and shotgun with non-lethal ammunition which did not deter the defendant. It is then alleged that Defendant Strickland approached the officers with the box cutter. An officer fired shots, striking Strickland once in his left arm.* Medics arrived on the scene and transported the defendant to a local hospital for treatment.
Steven Adelbert Strickland has been charged with Felonious Assault and Resisting and Obstructing a Police Officer.**
He was arraigned today before Judge Richard Page in 24th District Court and received a $40,000 cash/surety bond with a GPS tether and an alcohol tether. The Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for January 15, 2026, at 12:00 p.m., and the Preliminary Examination is scheduled for January 21, 2026, at 1:30 p.m., before Judge John Courtwright.
