Detroit Man Charged in Fatal Shooting of Dearborn Heights Woman

Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Sean Parnell Walker, Jr., 35, of Detroit, in connection with the homicide of Joyce Johnson 46, of Dearborn Heights. Ms. Johnson was the girlfriend of the defendant.

On August 25, 2026, at approximately 10:06 a.m., Dearborn Heights police officers were dispatched to a residence in the 5400 block of Huron Street for a reported home invasion. Upon their arrival, officers located Defendant Walker suffering from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the face, and the victim unresponsive in a bedroom of the home suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Medics arrived on the scene and pronounced Ms. Johnson deceased. Defendant Walker was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

It is alleged that Defendant Walker forced entry into the victim’s home. It is further alleged that Defendant Walker fired a handgun multiple times, fatally wounding Ms. Johnson. More complete facts and evidence will be placed on the record in court at the preliminary examination.

Sean Parnell Walker, Jr., has been charged with one count of First-Degree Premediated Murder, one count of Felony Murder, one count of First-Degree Home Invasion, three counts of Unlawful Imprisonment, three counts of Felonious Assault, one count of Prohibited Person in Possession of a Firearm, and 10 counts of Felony Firearm. *

He was arraigned by Zoom in 20th District Court in a local hospital because he is receiving treatment for his self-inflicted wound. He is currently in police custody. When he is released from the hospital, he will be remanded to the Wayne County Jail. The Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for September 9, 2026, at 9:00 a.m., via Zoom.
