Van Antwerp Park Sexual Assault Warrant Denied

On September 2, 2025, a 34-year-old Detroit woman, went to the 8th Precinct in Detroit and reported that she had been sexually assaulted. She alleged that on September 1, 2025, between 9:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m., she was forced at gunpoint from her car by an unknown male who directed her into a porta-john in the park and sexually assaulted her. Investigation by the Detroit Police led to a 27-year-old Detroit male suspect.

A warrant request was presented to the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office on September 4, 2025. The warrant request was reviewed by the WCPO Special Victim’s Unit. It was denied because there was insufficient evidence to prove the case beyond a reasonable doubt
