Two Charged in Vandalism of the Guardian Building

Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Ramzu Yunus, 49, of Highland Park, and Angela Tajuan Williams, 57, of Waldorf, Maryland, in connection with property damage to the Guardian Building.
On July 19, 2025, at approximately 4:50 a.m., Detroit police officers were dispatched to the Guardian Building located in the 500 block of Griswold Street for reported property damage. Upon their arrival, officers contacted the security guards on duty. It is alleged that at 4:45 a.m., the defendants used a sling shot to damage the glass revolving door of the building before fleeing the scene. No one was injured during the incident.
Later the same day, two Detroit police officers located the defendants around Madison Street near Witherell Street and conducted a traffic stop on their vehicle. Two additional officers were dispatched to the scene to assist with the traffic stop. During the apprehension of the defendants, officers observed that Defendant Yunus was wearing an empty holster on his hip. The officers searched the vehicle and recovered a handgun with ammunition and a slingshot with metal pellets.
Ramzu Yunus, has been charged with Malicious Destruction of a Building - $1,000 to $20,000, Possession of a Firearm by a Prohibited Person, Carrying a Concealed Weapon, and two counts of Felony Firearm.* Angela Williams has been charged with Malicious Destruction of a Building - $1,000 to $20,000.
They were arraigned this morning in 36th District Court before Judge Jeffrey Kleparek. Defendant Yunus received a $50,000 personal bond with a GPS tether. Defendant Williams received a $25,000 personal bond with a GPS tether.
The Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for July 29, 2025, and the Preliminary Examination is scheduled for August 5, 2025, before Judge Ronald Giles. Please request a photograph of the defendants from the Detroit Police Department.
Two warrant requests connected to two other Detroit buildings allegedly vandalized by these defendants remain under review.
