Published on August 25, 2025
Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Mario Dewayne Green, 53, of Detroit, in connection with the fatal shooting of Latricia Green, 40, also of Detroit. Ms. Green was the ex-wife of the defendant and an employee of Henry Ford Hospital.
On August 22, 2025, at approximately 9:45 a.m., it is alleged that Defendant Green entered Henry Ford Hospital, located in the 2700 block of West Grand Boulevard in Detroit, armed with a handgun. He knew that he was prohibited from coming to the hospital because of his past stalking and harassment of Ms. Green at her job. It is further alleged that Defendant Green went to the victim’s office, located the basement of the hospital, and fired his handgun, fatally wounding Ms. Green, before leaving the scene in a car. The hospital was placed on lock-down status and Detroit police officers arrived at the scene shortly after the shooting. Ms. Green succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased a short time later. The Wayne County Medical Examiner determined that the cause of death was a close-range gunshot wound. More complete facts will be placed on the record in court at the preliminary examination.
Investigation by the Detroit Police Department with assistance by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), Michigan State Police, the FBI, Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office, and Henry Ford Hospital's Security Police, led to the arrest of the defendant on August 23, 2025.
Mario Dewayne Green has been charged with First-Degree Premediated Murder, Discharge of a Firearm in a Building Causing Death, Aggravated Stalking, Possession of a Firearm by a Prohibited Person, and four counts of Felony Firearm.*
Mario Green was arraigned today in 36th District Court. He was remanded to jail, and his Probable Cause Conference is on September 4, 2025, and his Preliminary Examination is on September 11, 2025, before Judge Shwan Jacque. “Most people have had failed relationships of one kind or another. The result has never been violence, but unfortunately deadly violence is the remedy for some individuals. We stand with the family, friends, and coworkers of Ms. Green and will work hard to make sure justice is done,” said Prosecutor Kym Worthy.
