Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Jaylen Lee Robinson, 30, of Hazel Park, in connection with the fatal shootings of Martin Clay, 32, of Davison, Michigan, and Maria Jenkins, 34, of Highland Park, and the non-fatal shootings of a 28-year-old woman and a 39-year-old woman, both of Detroit.

On July 28, 2025, at approximately 3:56 a.m., Detroit police officers were dispatched to a gas station in the 3300 block of Puritan Street for a reported shooting. Upon their arrival, officers observed Mr. Clay on the floor of the entrance of the gas station, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his torso and buttocks area, Ms. Jenkins suffering from a gunshot wound to her torso, the 28-year-old victim with a gunshot wound to the torso, and the 39-year-old victim with a gunshot graze to the torso.

Medics arrived on the scene and pronounced Mr. Clay deceased. Medics transported Ms. Jenkins to a local hospital for treatment, where she succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased a short time later. The 28-year-old and 39-year-old victims were privately transported to a local hospital for treatment.

It is alleged that a verbal altercation between the defendant and Mr. Clay escalated to a physical altercation, and Defendant Robinson produced and fired a handgun multiple times, fatally wounding Mr. Clay and Ms. Jenkins and non-fatally wounding the 28-year-old and 39-year-old victims.

Jaylen Lee Robinson has been charged with two counts of First-Degree Murder, two counts of Assault with Intent to Murder, four counts of Felony Firearm, and one count of Possession of a Firearm by a Prohibited Person.*

He was arraigned and remanded to jail this afternoon in 36th District Court before Magistrate Delphia Burton. The Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for August 12, 2025, at 8:30 a.m., and the Preliminary Examination is scheduled for August 19, 2025, at 1:45 p.m., before Judge Shawn Jacque.
