Grosse Pointe Farms Man Charged With Sexual Assault of Teen

Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Dwayne Eugene Howell, 51, of Grosse Pointe Farms, the sexual assault of a 15-year-old girl, of Detroit. The defendant is a friend of the victim’s family.
On May 28, 2025, at approximately 2:30 p.m., it is alleged that Defendant Howell picked up the victim from her school in Detroit and drove her to his home in the 470 block of Belanger Street in Grosse Pointe Farms, where he sexually assaulted her. Investigation by the Grosse Pointe Farms Police Department led to the arrest of the defendant on October 13, 2025. More complete facts and evidence will be placed on the record in court at the preliminary examination.
Dwayne Eugene Howell has been charged with two counts of First-Degree Criminal Sexual Conduct, two counts of Third-Degree Criminal Sexual Conduct – Person 13 Through 15, Accosting a Minor for Immoral Purposes, and DNA Profiling – Refusing or Resisting to Provide Samples.*
He was arraigned on October 15, 2025, in Grosse Pointe Farms Municipal Court and received a $200,000 cash/surety bond with a GPS tether. The Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for October 29, 2025, at 12:00 p.m., before Judge Charles Berschback.
