Former DPD Officer Charged in Domestic Violence Incident

Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged former Detroit police officer Justice Calvin, 31, in connection with the assault of a 26-year-old woman of St. Clair Shores. The defendant and the victim have children in common.
On January 26, 2025, at approximately 11:33 p.m., it is alleged that Defendant Calvin followed the victim to the parking lot of a nursing home in the 15300 block of Schaefer Highway in Detroit. It is further alleged that Defendant Calvin exited his vehicle in full uniform and pointed his firearm at the victim, before forcefully removing her from the passenger side of her vehicle and physically assaulting her. At the time of the allegations Defendant Calvin was employed as a Detroit police officer. He is currently, not an officer with Detroit Police Department.
Defendant Calvin turned himself into the 2nd precinct of the Detroit Police Department on August 19, 2025. Justice Calvin has been charged with Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, Felony Firearm, Larceny from the Person, and Domestic Violence.*
He was arraigned this afternoon in 36th District Court before Magistrate Jeffrey Kleparek and received a $50,000 personal bond with a GPS tether and no contact with the complainant. The Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for August 28, 2025.
