Detroit Woman Charged in Gratiot Avenue Fatal Car Crash

Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Micah Simone Abby-Wills, 29, of Detroit, in connection with a car crash that killed Catone Scott, 39, of Detroit, and Jashaunda Scott, 38, of Warren.

On July 30, 2025, at approximately 1:52 a.m., Detroit police officers were dispatched to the area of Gratiot Avenue and French Road for a reported auto accident. Upon their arrival, officers observed medics attempting to extricate the defendant from the driver’s seat and the victims from the rear passenger seats of their vehicle. Medics pronounced Mr. Catone Scott deceased. Medics transported Defendant Abby-Wills and Ms. Jashaunda Scott to a local hospital for treatment. Ms. Scott succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased a short time later.

It is alleged that the defendant was intoxicated, driving northbound on Gratiot Avenue at a high rate of speed when she lost control of her vehicle and crashed into a building in the 10500 block of Gratiot Avenue near French Road, fatally injuring the victims.

Micah Simone Abby-Wills has been charged with two counts of Second-Degree Murder, two counts of Operating While Intoxicated – Causing Death, two counts of Reckless Driving – Causing Death, and two counts of Operating While Licenses Suspended, Revoked, or Denied – Causing Death.*

She was arraigned on August 2, 2025, in 36th District Court before Magistrate Laura Echartea and given a $200,000 cash/surety bond with a GPS tether. Today at the bond re-determination hearing, Judge William McConico added an alcohol tether and did not reduce the defendant’s bond.

The Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for August 11, 2025, at 8:30 a.m., and the Preliminary Examination is scheduled for August 18, 2025, at 1:45 p.m., before Judge Shawn Jacque.
