Detroit Man Charged in Fatal Shooting of Girlfriend

Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Jazzie Jermale Love, 34, of Detroit, in connection with the fatal shooting of Uniqua Sanders, 32, also of Detroit. The victim was the girlfriend of the defendant.

On January 16, 2025, at approximately 7:21 p.m., Detroit police officers were dispatched to a liquor store in the 10700 block of West Eight Mile Road for a reported shooting. Upon their arrival, officers located the victim outside of the store in her vehicle, suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. Medics arrived on the scene and pronounced the victim deceased.

It is alleged that the defendant and the victim had an argument inside of the victim's vehicle. It is further alleged that Defendant Love exited the passenger side of the vehicle and walked to the driver's side, where he fired a handgun, fatally wounding Ms. Sanders in the head.

Jazzie Jermale Love has been charged with First-Degree Murder, Carrying a Concealed Weapon, and Felony Firearm.* He was arraigned and remanded to jail on January 19, 2025, in 36th District Court. The Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for January 28, 2025, and the Preliminary Examination is scheduled for February 4, 2025, before Judge Shawn Jacque.
