Detroit Juvenile Charged in Car Theft and Resisting Police Officer

Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged a 14-year-old juvenile male, of Detroit, in connection with stealing of a 45-year-old Detroit woman’s vehicle.

On August 11, 2025, at approximately 4:30 a.m., it is alleged that the juvenile was driving the stolen vehicle recklessly, at a high rate of speed in the area of Rockdale Street and Majestic Street in Detroit when he lost control of the vehicle and crashed near a residence in the 7300 block of Rockdale Street. Officers responded to the scene where they came in contact with the juvenile. It is then alleged that the juvenile fled from the officers on foot. After a brief foot chase, officers were able to apprehend the juvenile. Medics arrived on the scene and transported the juvenile to a local hospital for treatment.

The juvenile respondent has been charged with Receiving and Concealing a Stolen Vehicle, Resisting and Obstructing a Police Officer, and Leaving the Scene of an Accident.*

The preliminary hearing was held this afternoon, at the Juvenile Detention Facility in the Wayne County Criminal Justice Center before Referee Leslie Graves. A pretrial date was scheduled for September 9, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. before Referee Logan via zoom. Bond was set at $10,000 /10% with a GPS tether.
