Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Amir Khalid, 41, of Canton, in connection with a car crash that killed, eight-year-old Savannah Allen, and 15-year-old Syiana Allen, and injured a 16-year-old girl, all of Detroit.
On August 23, 2025, at approximately 12:39 a.m., Detroit police officers were dispatched to the area of Gratiot Avenue and August Street for a reported car crash. Upon their arrival, officers observed the victims’ vehicle on the sidewalk in front of a gas station in the 12600 block of Gratiot Avenue and Savannah trapped inside. Officers extracted Savannah from the vehicle and medics transported the victims to a local hospital for treatment. Amir Khalid has been charged with two counts of Reckless Driving Causing Death and one count of Reckless Driving Causing Serious Injury.*
He was arraigned on August 25, 2025, in 36th District Court before Magistrate Joseph Boyer and received a $250,000 cash/surety bond with a GPS tether and conditions of a 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. curfew, and no driving.
