Dearborn Heights Man Charged in Assault and Barricaded Gunman Incident

Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Mark Denis Grzybowski, 63, of Dearborn Heights, in connection with the assault of a 31-year-old year Detroit man and his four-year-old son.
On April 27, 2024, at approximately 1:27 p.m., at a residence in the 24000 block of Eton in Dearborn Heights, it is alleged that Defendant Grzybowski pointed a rifle at the victims, who were performing yard work at a neighboring residence, before barricading himself in his home. Dearborn Heights police officers were dispatched to the scene and set up a perimeter around the home. After a four-hour standoff, involving multiple agencies Defendant Grzybowski exited the residence and was taken into custody. Aspects of this case remain under review.
Mark Denis Grzybowski has been charged with Carrying a Weapon with Unlawful Intent, Felony Firearm - Pneumatic Rifle, and two counts of misdemeanor Assault.*
He was arraigned this afternoon in 20th District Court and given a $50,000 cash bond with a GPS tether. The Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for May 8, 2024, and the Preliminary Examination is scheduled for May 15, 2024, before Judge Mark Plawecki.
