Farmington Hills Man Charged with Dearborn Threat of Terrorism

Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Carl David Mintz, 41, of Farmington Hills, in connection with making terrorist threats. On October 11, 2023, at approximately 1:00 a.m., it is alleged that Defendant Mintz made a threatening post on social media against Palestinian people in the City of Dearborn. Investigation by the Dearborn Police Department led to the arrest of the defendant on October 12, 2023.

Carl David Mintz has been charged with False Report or Threat of Terrorism, and Malicious Use of Telecommunications Services. *

He was arraigned on October 14, 2023, in 19th District Court and given a $500,000 cash/surety bond with a GPS tether. The defendant is also ordered to have no weapons and no internet access. The Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for October 24, 2023, at 8:00 a.m., before Judge Mark Somers. Please request a photograph of the defendant from the Dearborn Police Department.

"Threats against any person in Wayne County will not be tolerated and will be thoroughly investigated by the relevant police agency. These threats will be prosecuted by this office if, based on the investigation, it can be proven in court beyond a reasonable doubt. Wayne County is very diverse, and we take these threats very seriously," said Prosecutor Kym Worthy.
