Adventures with Turtles

It’s that time of year, turtles are nesting! Join us as we hike the trails of Crosswinds in search of turtle nests to cover and protect. We will learn the signs of a freshly laid nest, mark any potential nests we discover, and learn the importance of covering nests. We will even meet a few live turtles!

Park in the main parking area and meet at the trail map west of the restroom. Program fee is $5 per person, all ages welcome. This program does include a hike which will be up to two (2) miles. We will be walking on dirt/gravel, grass, and board walk. There will be a few hills. Registration ends June 17, 2026, at 8:00 AM. Registration limited to 20 people.

To register, please call the Wayne County Parks front desk to register (734-261-1990). Note you will need to pay over the phone by credit card or come into the Nankin Mills Interpretive Center (Westland) to pay by cash, credit card (Visa/Mastercard), or check. Hours are between 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM Monday through Saturday, closed Noon-1:00 PM for lunch.

No refunds, if it is canceled by Wayne County Parks, we will add a credit to your account for a future program. Parents/chaperones must accompany children at all times during our programs.
