Wayne County to Improve Five Mile and Ridge Roads in the Townships of Northville and Plymouth

WAYNE COUNTY, MI – Wayne County Department of Public Services will start construction to modernize the intersection at Five Mile and Ridge Roads in the Townships of Northville and Plymouth. The project will include traffic signal work and the addition of a left turn lane on Ridge Road. Construction is scheduled to begin on Monday, February 23, 2026, and is estimated to be completed by late Summer 2026, barring any unforeseen delays or inclement weather. This work will require Ridge Road to be closed south of Five Mile. Traffic will be detoured to Five Mile Road, Beck Road, and N. Territorial Road. Drivers should use the following routes to get around the road closure:

Northbound Ridge Road traffic will detour east on N. Territorial Road, north on Beck Road, and west on Five Mile Road to Ridge Road.

Southbound Ridge Road traffic will detour east on Five Mile Road, south on Beck Road, and west on N. Territorial Road to Ridge Road.

Reduced speeds and load restrictions may be posted. Access to all residences and businesses will be maintained throughout the project. Flaggers will be present as needed to assist with traffic flow. Wayne County urges drivers to use caution when traveling through the work zone for the safety of both workers and the public.
