Wayne County Commission Chair Alisha Bell appoints committee chairs

Wayne County Commission Chair Alisha Bell (D-Detroit) has appointed chairs of the commission's standing and special committees for 2024.

"Those selected will provide strong leadership as we head into the New Year," Chair Bell said.

Those appointed chairs of standing committees include:

  • Audit: Melissa Daub (D-Canton Township).
  • Economic Development: Al Haidous (D-Wayne).
  • Government Operations: Cara Clemente (D-Lincoln Park).
  • Health and Human Services: Martha G. Scott (D-Highland Park).
  • Public Safety, Judiciary and Homeland Security: Irma Clark Coleman (DDetroit).
  • Public Services: Terry Marecki (R-Livonia).
  • Senior Citizens and Veterans Affairs: David Knezek (D-Dearborn Heights).
  • Ways and Means: Jonathan C. Kinloch (D-Detroit).

Special committee, task force and other chairs include:

  • Special Committee on the Criminal Justice Complex: Glenn S. Anderson (DWestland).
  • Special Committee on Behavioral Health: Tim Killeen (D-Detroit).
  • Special Committee on the Wayne County Commission Youth Council: Monique Baker McCormick (D-Detroit).

Chair Bell is the chair of the Special Committee on Rules and Benefits and Staffing Task Force. Commissioner Haidous is chair of the Building Consolidation and Document Storage Workgroup.

Each standing committee generally meets twice monthly. Economic Development, Health and Human Services, Public Services and Ways and Means generally meet on the first and third Tuesday of each month. Audit, Government Operations, Public Safety, Judiciary and Homeland Security and Seniors and Veterans Services generally meet on the first and third Wednesdays.

The Special Committee on the Criminal Justice Complex is scheduled to meet on the third Thursday of each month.
