Free concert paid tribute to frontline workers, those lost to COVID-19

A free concert held July 14 on Belle Isle honored area frontline workers as well as the memory of those who lost their lives during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Wayne County Commissioner Monique Baker McCormick served as event chair, with commission Chair Alisha Bell and Commissioner Johnathan Kinloch serving as event co-chairs.
The concert featured Lashell Renee, winner of Oprah Winfrey's Pop Star competition, as well at the Gwen Fox Trio & Notorious and other performers. Vickie Thomas served as master of ceremonies.
Event sponsors included Sinai-Grace Hospital, Laborers Local 1191, Sun Valley Foods Co., Golden Dental Plans, Heritage Optical, Queen Lillian LLC and the War on Trash initiative
