Nankin Mills Interpretive Center
The Nankin Mills Interpretive Center is open Monday - Saturday from 9:00 PM - 4:00 PM (closed for Lunch from 12:00 PM-1:00 PM) for park permits, dog park registration, metal detector permits and general questions. The address for the Nankin Mills Interpretive Center is 33175 Ann Arbor Trail in Westland.

Due to Wayne County Parks switching to a new park permit software system, all reservations must be made in person until further notice.

Wayne County Parks Dog Park
Registration for the current dog park season (June 9, 2025- April 30, 2026) is open at the Nankin Mills Interpretive Center in Westland. Please view the Dog Park Rules and Membership Application Form(PDF, 398KB). Please note, you will need to bring copies of your city dog license and rabies/distemper vaccination records to register your dog and the membership is not pro-rated. Online Dog Park Application
Wayne County Parks Strategic Master Plan
In 2025, Wayne County Parks (WCP) began a recreation master planning process to develop a long-term vision for the park system as well as provide a revised 5-Year Recreation Plan. The planning process has included to date public surveys and numerous meetings with Wayne County Parks staff and leadership. The 5-Year Recreation Plan provides an overview of the current state of the park system, its operations, future goals, and anticipated capital improvements. An adopted 5-Year Recreation Plan is a requirement for a park system to be eligible for Michigan Department of Natural Resource grants to support park improvement projects.
